At East High School, everyone is anxious about the long-awaited winter musical and the final of the basketball championship. But when Troy Bolton, the most famous boy at the school and captain of the basketball team, meets the new student Gabriella Montez and discovers that he also has a passion for singing, his world and what surrounds him will begin to change.

First chapter of the trilogy, it remains one of the most beautiful and beloved sagas distributed by Disney Channel, as well as being one of the television musicals that have had a great success all over the world, making sure that the story is revived at the theater, in other versions and lately also as a TV series on Disney+. It remains one of the sagas I loved most when I was a teenager in middle school and there was no guy or girl who didn't see or know him; in addition to breaking various records, he also launched the careers of various actors who are now very well known as Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

The story is a mixture of many film genres such as the musical first of all, but also sentimentality, drama and friendship that never lacks. Every single scene fills with feeling those who watch the film, taking you directly into the story and making you discover the world of musical and singing, even today when I happen to watch it I still get excited, because it remains one of those films that you never forget. The thing that is most surprising is that no one would have thought that a film of this genre, distributed for boys and all those teenagers who, like me, love the music, but also the film where the dance is at the centre of everything, he would have been able to have this great impact in the cinema and in the world, and although it will remain a film for the boys, no one forgets him indeed continues to be present in the film culture of the genre.

Zac Efron e Kenny Ortega durante le riprese

Starting from the fact that behind the whole film there was a great work of magnificent choreography directed by Kenny Ortega, who over the years has been director of various choreographies of films and theatrical performances and more. A director-choreographer, with great skill and that it fills his performances of musical beauty, but also enthusiasm, so as to have also directed and choreographed many tour by Michael Jackson as a Dangerous World Tour, and others, also directing the documentary Michael Jackson's This Is It, or what was supposed to be the tour of the singer before his death. Ortega is recognized all over the world is surely High School Musical was the film that consecrated him worldwide, managing to involve many boys with a passion for dancing and singing.

Each choreography is endowed with a soul, and involves you to dance it, each character moves to the rhythm of music combining dance and singing in one thing, this makes you understand how now the musical has entered the daily life of everyone, and brings fans from all over the world. The same HSM, after the success of the film as I have mentioned before, has created several musical and theatrical even in Italy, but also a television event entitled High School Musical: The Concert, a concert dedicated to the first film, with all the characters of the story who have sung the songs of the movie of the same name, and more, the concert was a great success in the year 2006-2007 through several states.

Troy e Gabriella

But let's move on to the protagonists of the opera who thanks to the film are now protagonists of the cinema and some instead have gone into the background; no one forgets the beautiful Troy Bolton, the athlete on duty who everyone knows and who is the most loved boy of the school. The boy is dedicated to basketball and the future in this sport, but he will discover that he also loves singing and also has excellent singing skills and this will put him in doubt on many things, in addition to all the people around him who will not be so convinced of this double choice. The meeting with the beautiful Gabriella Montez will also be a way to carry on his choice on singing and dancing, one of those choices that will upset his world made of basketball and only basketball. He will fall in love with the girl and go against the father who is also the coach of the team, but slowly the father will also share the choice of the son.

Il cast alla premiere del film

Two actors like Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who before that had had small roles in film and tv, and this film gave him way to make himself known; although Efron was the actor who was the most successful of all after the film, thanks to his way of acting as the water and soap boy, brave and sweet that would make any girl fall in love. But the actor after the film had not even singing and dancing in other musicals, for this his first act in the parts where he sings, he left his voice to actor Drew Seeley due to various acute and intonations that were not yet perfect, the same Seeley will replace Efron in the concert dedicated to the HSM. But if we know about Efron's career after the film, even Hudgens did not slow down leaving a nice and beautiful imprint on the story in it, her beauty soap and water filled the hearts of many fans, and her voice filled the audience with enthusiasm, her way of singing is a hymn to the sweetness and beauty of the soul.

Sharpay e Ryan

The romance between Troy and Gabriella, which then resulted also in a relationship in private life, it was appreciated by all, the two want to grow in harmony together, and become great among the various difficulties the teenage that we all had, and that there are still a lot of teenagers, but their romance is truly an example of those sweet stories of mind. One character that no one will forget is that of Sharpay Evans, the most unbearable but most refined girl in the school, that every school has. Ashley Tisdale, who became famous for the series Zac and Cody, and is entered in the part to perfection, insoppartabile, cute and approfitatrice, suffice it to say that her twin brother Ryan (Lucas Europe), excellent dancer and singer remains under the figure of his sister that he sometimes praises and sometimes it's mean, but in reality, the guy has shown several times not to be cruel, like the sister, but with a funny and sweet sympathy. Sharpay, in my opinion, lives that character to be appreciated by his teammates doing the hard and tries to put the stick between the wheels at all, but in the end just wants to be accepted and also know his sensitive part, in addition to having a beautiful voice and high notes recitative.

Taylor and Chad

But as I said in the movie do not miss the friendship that is the part that is a strength for this success, and where we find characters such as Chad (Corbin Bleu), and Taylor (Monique Coleman), the first is the shoulder of Troy and his best friend from the time of the asylum as well as his team-mate, the second is a large cervellona as Gabriella and between the two there is a relationship between sisters will share the passion for mathematics. Both Chad and Taylor (between two will also establish a tender), beginselte will not see the inclusion of Troy and Gabriella in the musical because of the obstacle that could divide them between the basketball championship and the decathlon, but they will be common side to help their friends. This is the example of which friends you should trust; the friend will always do everything to help you if he is a true friend, but on the one hand he may also try to lead you to inappropriate decisions, it is always up to you to understand if the action is right or wrong and what is best for you.

I could sit here for hours describing the characters from the sweet pianist Kelsi (Olesya Rulin)to the two other important members of the basketball team like Zeke (Chris Warren Jr.) who will turn out to be a lover of cooking and pastry, to the bizarre Jason (Ryne Sanborn) of which we know very little, not to mention Mrs. Darbus (Alyson Reed) or the drama teacher, strict but also comforting who can sometimes seem insolent but that in the end every student would like as a teacher. But what I appreciated is the same school, symbol of the film and that can not be forgotten, with its gym and theater to make me understand that in Italy of schools like this we have few, no that there are but in the United States it is all different, and probably if I had had such a school I would have loved it more. The beauty of seeing classmates joke and play without distinction is something you only see in the movies, but many of the kids of my generation who followed the plot will certainly have envied the American school landscape, even if we say the American school environment is very different from the one described in the film and it's not all roses and flowers.

The success we have, however, to the various songs featured in the film, and the first chapter is only the start of what will be later, each song has a soul, you plague and lead you to sing to her as if it was a karaoke-we all have loved Breaking Free "sung by Troy and Gabriella, showing that the two guys have made also against those who interfered with, to the beautiful We're All in This Together" sung by the entire cast to celebrate that it all ends well, it has become the song is a symbol of the movies, but all of them are from the applause and sing at the right time; I wanted to mention the two because they are the most important ones in the movie, in my opinion, but each one has its own charm and from the ensemble of Stick to the Status Quo to Bop to the Top and others; curiosity that Breaking Free has been sung in Italian by Luca Dirisio and entitled If you try to fly, a song sweet and contagious.

HSM, which won an Emmy Awards for Best Film for boys and nominated for 4 others, not to mention the numerous other awards brings a real enthusiasm to the whole environment and if even today it does not go unnoticed the reason is that the music manages to make you pass the bad moments momentarily, and give you a special meaning to life.
